Creating neurodiverse-friendly learning spaces and offices through sustainable acoustic design

This session provides an introduction to sustainable acoustic design and its role in supporting neurodiverse needs in learning spaces and offices.  We will explore the principles, standards, and practical applications relevant to those interested in creating neurodiverse friendly environments, enhancing human comfort, health and well-being.  

 

The presentation covers BB93 and SEN-aligned acoustic requirements for schools, alongside ISO 22955 and PAS 6463 guidance for workplace soundscapes. Also included in the presentation:

  • The evolutionary basis for human hearing and its relevance to biophilia

  • Insights into the physics, psychology and physiology of human hearing

  • Examples of real-world case studies

  • Audio demonstrations

With over 25 years’ of workplace experience across Europe and the U.S., she focuses on how sound influences health, well‑being, and performance in office environments.

 

Paige is a published author, international speaker, and co‑developer of Ecophon’s psychoacoustic profiling tools, working with organisations to create acoustically supportive, human‑centred workplaces.
