DAY 3 WORKSHOP • THURSDAY 17 SEPTEMBER • 11.30 – 12.30
Designing neuroinclusive journeys: From access to action

Hi Transport systems shape how people move through daily life. They affect whether people can reach work, education, healthcare, culture, public services and each other. When transport environments are difficult to understand, overwhelming, unreliable or inaccessible, people are not only delayed – they can be excluded.

This roundtable, chaired by Georgia Collard-Watson, Associate Principal at Grimshaw, will explore how the transport sector can design and deliver more neuroinclusive and equitable journeys.

The discussion will bring together public and private sector voices, including transport owners and operators, designers, researchers, advocates, industry leaders and people with lived experience.Together, the group will consider how to move from research, guidance and good intentions into practical change across planning, design, delivery and operation.

The conversation will focus on real-world action: what needs to change, who needs to be involved, and how the sector can build trust, accountability and momentum.

As Eman Rimawi-Doster (Senior organizer, Disability Justice, New York Lawyers for the Public

Interest) powerfully stated during the Urban Design Forum’s keynote on Mobility in NYC : “If we all have accessibility, that means we all have access.” This roundtable takes that principle as a

starting point for rethinking transport environments as places of dignity, independence and

belonging.
