Neurodiversity – A material consideration within planning and architectural design
The session with delve into the principles of neuroinclusive design across town planning and architectural disciplines, giving rich insight into how the principles of guidance such as PAS 6463 and Neurodiversity in Planning’s own Design Booklet are being – and could be better - applied in real-world projects.
The session will examine the status of neurodiversity as a material planning consideration in town planning, giving an overview of how this has been embedded within policy at national and local levels, and case study examples where this has been implemented in decision making.
An interactive and sensory focused presentation will take place, followed by small group discussions on neuroinclusive planning considerations based on case study scenarios

Jenny Offord
Jenny Offord is Head of Meridian Water at Enfield Council, leading the delivery of one of London’s largest regeneration programmes. With over 20 years’ experience in planning and development, she is also a passionate advocate for neurodiversity and inclusion.
As co-founder of the Neurodiversity in Planning and Ability:RE networks, Jenny champions practical approaches to consider neurodiversity in how we design, communicate and work.
Rebecca Jilks
Rebecca Jilks is a Neurodivergent architectural designer at Baily Garner Architects, who work on a range of socially driven projects, including SEND provisions, social housing & blue light.
Through her University and practice work, Rebecca advocates for neuroinclusive design approaches across architecture and planning. She is an active member of Neurodiversity Architecture Network (NAN) and Neurodiversity in Planning (NiP), contributing to cross-disciplinary conversations and workshops.
